On May 7, a mobile home explosion near Princeton, Minnesota, took the lives of two individuals and their dog. The mobile home exploded in the middle of the night, at around 3:54 a.m., per ABC News. The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office received several emergency calls to report the explosion, which was heard over 20 miles away.

Two people and their pet dog were killed in a mobile home explosion on Tuesday. Authorities noted that the blast had a massive debris field and was still ablaze when the deputies arrived. It required the collaborative effort of several fire departments to finally put out the fire.
An inspection of the debris revealed two human victims and a canine victim who lost their lives to the blast. The victims have been identified as Royce Edward Kreger and Katherine Ann Kreger. The individuals lived at the mobile home, and further investigation is required before drawing any conclusions about the explosion. Moreover, the cause is yet to be determined.
It was a double-wide mobile home, per the Star Tribune and Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Evenson stated that people as far as 23 miles from the scene heard the blast. The mobile home’s owner, Stuart Bryan, said that the male victim was a “very, very dear friend” to whom he was renting out the property.
Moreover, Bryan was driving to the scene when he heard the blast. He noted that he had never had an issue with the mobile home, so he had no idea what prompted the explosion. The mobile home‘s owner said that Royce Kreger was a good man and took excellent care of his property. Bryan stated, “He took better care of the place than if I lived there.”
While the cause is still under investigation, Deputy Aaron Evenson mentioned noticing a propane tank. When they arrived on the scene, it was discharging propane into the air. Propane, being an extremely flammable gas, could be the cause behind the mobile home explosion. The deputy noted that this case could be categorized as “mass destruction,” exclaiming that it was the largest explosion he had ever seen.
