Oregon Dog Rescue Unveils $1 Million Facility to House 100 Dogs

Oregon Dog Rescue is making strides with its relocation to a larger and improved facility, marking a significant step forward. The organization had its humble beginnings in Founder Debra Bowen’s garage and then moved to a 3,000 sq. ft. space in Tualatin. Its new location will be able to house a minimum of 100 dogs.

Oregon Dog Rescue moves to new location in John’s Landing

Oregon Dog Rescue is making a significant leap forward by relocating to a larger facility in The Johns Landing Neighborhood, as KPTV reports. They were working from a 3,000 sq. ft. space in Tualatin, starting from Founder Debra Bowen’s garage. However, due to the growing demand for their services, their new facility in Portland has 13,000 sq. ft. of space.

Bowen reflected on the rescue’s amazing journey. She said, “All the blood, sweat, and tears, and scary nights, and just not being sure we can do it but then when I look at it, it’s here.”

While the Tualatin site accommodated only 65 dogs, the new $1 million facility boasts the capacity to house at least 100 dogs. Thus, the new place provides ample space for enrichment activities.

In addition, the building originally was a doggy day care center. It had to undergo renovations to meet the rescue’s needs. The facility now includes a puppy nursery, meet-and-greet rooms, larger play areas, and an on-site veterinary clinic, enhancing the dogs’ overall quality of life.

Bowen explained, “It’s always the dogs first. It’s helping each dog be the best and getting it to a place where it can be in a home. That is the groundwork for everything.” Continuing, she added, “I only have all our supporters to thank for it … there’s no way we can do this without the huge amount of community support.”

The grand opening of the new Oregon Dog Rescue is scheduled for Friday, March 19th.
