In a lengthy Instagram post, as reported by Soaps, a heartbroken Sofer revealed: “I have too much to say. But I have no words right now. It’s all just in so much pain. Yesterday was the most devastating yet expected day. But it was too soon. I only had my boy for 7 years and 8 days. Cancer stole him from me, from Sandy, from Avalon, and from his sister Mega.”

Sofer, who is an avid advocate of dog fostering, further shared: “I love all my dogs ….but without remorse….Alfie was my favorite. My heart and soul dog. I am destroyed and numb. The greatest gift we ever gave each other was each other. I will miss you forever and ever and ever.”

In an exclusive 2018 interview with Soaps in Depth, Sofer opened up on how she crossed paths with Alfie. When she first met Alfie, the pup had a leg injury that required multiple surgeries. Sofer knew nobody would have wanted to adopt Alfie owing to the high costs associated with the surgeries. So, she opted to adopt and care for him.

Moreover, Sofer revealed she also took in Alfie’s sister, Mega, because she and Alfie shared quite a strong bond. “I ended up getting his sister, too, because they are inseparable. He’s just super sweet, and she rules the roost. But they’re best friends.”

Unfortunately, Alfie’s death comes barely a year after Sofer lost her senior Chihuahua named Princess Carolyn. The “General Hospital” star fostered the pup during the pandemic before eventually adopting her.
