North Carolina Dog in Pen for 4 Years Finds Loving Home

After spending four years in a small pen in North Carolina, a dog has finally found a loving forever home in Syracuse, New York. The pup was locked in an outdoor cage alone, but he managed to escape that life thanks to PETA fieldworkers. The canine now has a home to call his own and a family willing to shower him with love.

PETA recently shared a video on its YouTube channel documenting Timothy’s heartwarming story. The adorable dog had been locked in a small pen for four years, left with just enough space to pace back and forth. He was in solitary confinement throughout the day for years until PETA fieldworkers rescued him.

The PETA team came across Timothy in rural North Carolina. They tried their best to convince his former owner to surrender him, and after years, their request was finally granted. The dog has found a loving family after years of being stuck in a pen in the backyard without comfort and socialization.

According to PETA, the team watched him grow from a puppy to an adult. They tried to provide the canine with much-needed love and attention whenever they visited him. After his former owner agreed to surrender him, Timothy spent some time in foster care. This helped him adjust to his newfound freedom from the small cage.

Timothy was then adopted by a New York-based couple, Lori and Michael. After learning about his past, the duo didn’t think twice about bringing him home. Moreover, the pup received a welcome party as well, complete with a homemade sign, per PEOPLE. The rescue dog has a life full of adventures ahead of him, as Lori and Michael plan to take him camping and hiking.

PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch noted, “Timothy has found a loving home, but countless other dogs like him remain penned or chained outside 24/7 without adequate food, water, shelter, or social interaction. PETA urges everyone to keep dogs indoors with the rest of the family…”
