Over the weekend, several dogs were found dead after suffering from heat stroke while they were under the care of a pet sitter in Houston, Texas. The professional was booked through the Rover app and is currently under investigation. In addition to the pups who passed away, four others have been hospitalized and are fighting for their lives.

4 dogs hospitalized, and 3 dead in Houston, pet sitter under investigation

On June 29, several Houston dog owners were informed about the unfortunate passing of their beloved pet. The dogs were under the care of a professional pet sitter when they were found dead. While it is yet to be confirmed by the authorities, the cause of death could potentially be heat stroke. Several other pups are fighting for their lives in the hospital, and police are still investigating the case.

Taylor Friesenhahn and Jessica Hayward lost their pup, Goose, to the incident. They dropped him off at the pet sitter’s on June 27 and believe he died due to heat stroke. Friesenhahn and Hayward loved him to bits and considered the canine companion their child. Another dog who lost his life was Porter, a beautiful chocolate Labrador Retriever. He belonged to Jordan and Matthew Johnston, who considered him a family member.

The suspect is still under investigation, and animal cruelty investigators have visited her place multiple times. According to ABC13, the owners noted that the pet sitter had great reviews on Rover and had several repeat customers.

The pet parents were under the impression that the canines were staying in her house. However, it was later revealed that they weren’t staying in a room but rather in a shed in her backyard. Unfortunately, the air conditioning stopped working, and the pups suffered heat exhaustion. Over the weekend, temperatures reached as high as 95 degrees in that area.

One of the dogs hospitalized after suffering from the ordeal is Archie. Fortunately, his chances of surviving are quite high, and his family is optimistic he will make it. Archie’s owner, Andrew Seerden, noted that everyone is trying their best, and that’s all he could ask for.
