Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin adopts a puppy

According to her Twitter page, Marlee Matlin has adopted a Havanese puppy.

“It’s official,” Matlin wrote in a Tweet on Thursday, “Our new little Havanese puppy is Desi, named after one of Cuba’s most well-known exports, Desi Arnaz.”

Matlin won the 1986 Best Actress Academy Award for Children of a Lesser God. To date, she is the only deaf performer to win that award.
