Jessie James Decker and her husband, Eric Decker, are expanding their brood – with a new puppy! The celebrity power couple recently announced that they adopted a puppy on Valentine’s Day.

The country music star and the former NFL player recently shared a post on Instagram that revealed how the new fur baby came into their lives.

Jessie visited Country Now studio in Nashville, Tennessee, for an interview as part of the studio’s “Pupdate” series. There, she met several cute puppies from Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue. During the interview, she became enamored with a particular furry friend and wanted to adopt her.

Of course, she had to inform her husband of the potential new addition to their family. Texting negotiations ensued.

“Swipe to see how I convinced @ericdecker to let us adopt a puppy on Valentine’s Day,” Decker captioned an Instagram post that contained several messages between the couple.

First, Jessie sent her hubby a pic of four snoozing fur babies.

“Sweet babies!!” he replied. “They will find a lovely home.”

“Come now Eric,” Jessie wrote, followed by, “I’m serious.”

Eric texted back, “I’m not gonna get attached to a dog.”

But Jessie wouldn’t let sleeping dogs lie. She video-called her better half while holding the puppy “in hopes that he would feel the same way she did once he got to meet the adorable pup.”

Sure enough, Eric (aka “the puppy master”) came down to the studio, and the two posed with the fluffy fur ball, whom they named Hart Olivia Decker.

And Puppy Makes…Eight!

The new pup went home to a full house that includes the couple’s three human children, 8-year-old Vivianne, 7-year-old Eric II, and 4-year-old Forrest as well as Jessie’s two golden retrievers, Jake and Jenny.

“Hart completed the heart of our family,” Jessie told Country Now. “I feel like she chose us. We weren’t expecting to come home with a puppy that day, but it felt so right.”
