Brooke Shields Recalls The Time When Her Dog Ate Her Celine Shoe

Brooke Shields recently recalled the time when her dog, an American Staffordshire Terrier named Tuzi, ate her shoes. The actor was accompanied by her daughter Rowan Francis Henchy to the 2024 Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards. The mother-daughter duo spoke to PEOPLE about an incident when their furry friend changed her taste preferences.

Brooke Shields on Tuzi eating her shoe: ‘She only seems to eat the good stuff’

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Brooke Shields and her daughter Rowan spoke about their rescue pup Tuzi eating the actor’s designer shoes. This topic arose when the two spoke about their communication patterns now that Rowan is off to college. The latter revealed that they talk on a daily basis but her mother is “not great with when messages are sent.”

Recalling how Shields misread the messages, Rowan said, “Even today in the car, I sent a photo from her phone to me three days ago. We had a conversation about it. The dog ate one of her shoes.” However, the actor did not realize that the text was old. Rowan continued, “She goes on her phone, she goes to our text and she goes, ‘The dog did it again.’ I said, ‘Mom. That was four days ago. I was sitting next to you. You sent me the text from your phone.'”

Meanwhile, Shields, for her part, laughed out at the miscommunication. She said, “They were really nice shoes. They were a little Celine number.” Her daughter, however, expressed that Tuzi had acquired good taste. The actor agreed and said, “She only seems to eat the good stuff.”

Brooke Shields introduced her rescue pup Tuzi in July 2023 through a sweet Instagram post. She uploaded a carousel of pictures with the canine and said, “World, meet Tuzi. Tuzi, meet world. You know we couldn’t go long without puppy love in our house.” The actor referenced this to her late dog Pepper who passed away earlier that year.

Meanwhile, she brought Tuzi to Hope for Depression Research Foundation’s annual 5K race the following month. According to Page Six, the actor introduced the pup with a “twisted tail” to everyone. They were accompanied by Shields’ younger daughter Grier Hammond Henchy.
