On July 5, a missing dog was injured in a car accident after running away from home due to a fireworks scare. This is a common occurrence during the 4th of July celebration. Thus, shelters remind pet parents to ensure their furry friends are microchipped, and their contact information is updated before the holiday. Fortunately, the spooked pup has reunited with his owners thanks to his microchip.

Missing dog found thanks to microchip in Orange County, ran away due to fireworks scare

On Friday, Ocoee police officers found canine Ozzy, who had been hit by a car after running away from home. The dog had been reported missing by his parents, who stated that he was scared by the 4th of July fireworks. The Orange County Animal Services was called for assistance as the pup had lost the function of his hind legs.

In a Facebook post, the rescue noted that its officer took the canine to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic. He was cared for in the clinic and then transferred to the shelter after his condition had stabilized. Ozzy is still being monitored as he isn’t out of the woods yet. However, he will receive further treatment from his regular vet.

Microchipping pets is especially essential around the 4th of July celebrations. Many furry companions tend to get spooked by the loud noises. Thanks to his microchip, the missing dog could reunite with his family after the fireworks scare, per WKMG.

Moreover, the pet parents had ensured their contact information was updated. After a quick scan, the rescue could promptly contact his owners, who rushed to the facility after hearing about their beloved pet’s condition. Ozzy has now happily reunited with his parents. The pup will receive all the love and care he needs in the comfort of his home.
