The six-legged mermaid dog who made headlines worldwide has finally been adopted. A couple who teach surfing to people with disabilities have provided the pup with a forever home. Now, the canine can live up to her name, Ariel, inspired by Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” because of her unique pre-surgery looks.

Ariel was found last year in a parking lot after being abandoned by someone in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The Cocker Spaniel was born with six legs and two vulvas, with her extra limbs fused together to give them the look of a mermaid’s tail. After an initial examination, the vet named her Ariel, the infamous character from “The Little Mermaid.”

The six-legged canine then had to undergo surgery. The pup’s story touched everyone’s hearts, and people around the world helped raise close to $19,000 for her surgery. According to People, Ariel underwent the procedure earlier this year, and it was a success. After some much-needed recovery, she has finally found a loving home to call her own.

Emma-Mary Webster and Ollie Bird adopted the six-legged mermaid dog. The surf instructors work with people with disabilities. The couple adopted Ariel while recovering from losing their previous canine companion, Pippin, a Labrador Retriever and German Shorthaired Pointer mix.

Webster and Bird planned to welcome a new furry friend into their family. After applying at the Greenacres Rescue, they came across the six-legged dog, specially recommended by one of the volunteers. The couple had no idea about the canine’s popularity until they were stopped on the streets for selfies.

Ariel loves her new family and thoroughly enjoys the beach, often participating in the couple’s surf lessons. The participants love the six-legged mermaid dog, who has a playful personality and is always ready for a play session.
