DJ Kygo Meets Namesake Dog With Terminal Cancer at Festival

On June 22, Kygo finally met the dog named after him, who is suffering from terminal cancer. After learning about his illness, the DJ was determined to meet the mutt and invited him to enjoy his festival. The Norwegian songwriter was overjoyed to meet the canine, as he had never met a namesake dog. Moreover, he noted that it was one of his most unique fan interactions ever.

Kygo first learned about the beloved pet named after him after The Dogist featured him on his Instagram account. Out of the more than 14,000 comments, one was by DJ Kygo, who invited the dog with terminal cancer and his humans to the Palm Tree Music Festival in Southampton, Long Island. According to People, the producer came across the Instagram post after several people sent it to him.

According to The Dogist’s post, Kygo is supposedly a Husky, Malamute, Poodle, and Collie mix. The canine is about seven years old and suffering from osteosarcoma. He is receiving radiation treatment for the same. Unfortunately, it spread to his lungs, which resulted in the dog getting pneumonia. His owner, Ashley McClain, is trying her best to take him for walks outside to keep him happy as Kygo, the dog, fights his terminal cancer.

In the video, McClain noted that one of their bucket list dreams was to be photographed by The Dogist, so Kygo the dog is forever in everyone’s memories. However, the second dream was meeting the DJ he was named after. On Saturday, the furry companion and his human’s second bucket list dream also came true as the songwriter invited them to meet him before the show.

The Dogist documented the adorable interaction and shared it in a follow-up post. In the video, the DJ noted that this was a first for him, as he had never met a pup with his name. Moreover, he stated that he would love to have a canine companion to come home to. Kygo the dog’s owner has set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds for the mutt’s cancer treatment. They are close to their goal of $25,000, with the Brady Hunter Foundation donating $10,000.
