World’s Tallest Dog ‘Kevin’ Dies Days After Securing Record

On June 24, Guinness World Records released a statement noting that the world’s tallest dog, Kevin, had died. Unfortunately, the news came soon after he was declared the record holder, leaving his family and fans heartbroken. The canine passed away after an unplanned surgery, with his family wishing they had a little more time with their beloved pet.

‘Kevin’ dies at the age of 3 after being declared world’s tallest living dog

The sad news of the Great Dane’s passing was announced on Monday, with Guinness World Records releasing an official statement. Kevin was declared the world’s tallest living dog on June 13 and died earlier this week. However, within days of securing the world record, he died due to complications from an unplanned surgery after falling severely ill.

Kevin took over the title after Zeus, who was awarded the same in 2022. Both canines passed away due to complications post-surgery after suffering from major health issues. Zeus was taller than Kevin, measuring 41.18 inches in height. The 2022 record holder passed away in September 2023.

The Great Dane got his name from the iconic “Home Alone” character played by Macaulay Culkin. He lived with his parents and siblings in Iowa. They described Kevin as a gentle giant who was scared of everything. His towering height and fear of almost everything made him a comical furry companion to have. Moreover, his family loved him all the more for his adorably funny personality.

Kevin’s owner, Tracy Wolfe, told Guinness World Records, “Our whole family is devastated about Kevin. He was just the best giant boy!” She also noted that they are happy he broke the record before his passing, as he could enjoy having the spotlight on him, even if it was brief. While she wished giant dog breeds had a longer lifespan, she admitted one could never have enough time with their furry companions.
