While the aim is to have your pup stack their paw on top of your hands, their confusion makes the challenge adorable. Moreover, the canine companions who don’t succeed at the challenge are also funny to watch. While some pets naturally place their paw on top after seeing their humans do the same, others need incentives, like treats, to encourage them to participate in the challenge.

Many dog owners also took the “hands in” challenge to Instagram. Social media user @jennycookies tried it with her canine companion, Goldie. While the pup looked confused, she was quick to place her paw on top of her pet parents’ hands, albeit hesitantly. Goldie also seemed to be looking at her human to observe if she was doing it right.

According to experts, pups try to mimic their humans to please them, which often results in receiving pets and/or treats, The Washington Post reported. This might be one of the leading reasons why some dogs readily participate in the challenge. Several canines also do it because they believe they are giving their paw to their pet parent, following their dog training.
