A tourist in North Carolina encountered a shelter dog, Grover, sparking a connection that compelled him to change his travel plans, as per The Kansas City Star. Asheville Humane Society shared a post on Facebook on Feb. 27 describing how Wayne and his family quickly developed a deep affection for Grover upon meeting him.

As a result, Wayne made the decision to cancel his flight. Instead, he rented a car to adopt Grover, an Australian Shepherd, and bring him to their home.

A heartwarming image shared online captures Grover in the loving embrace of his new owner. Grover will be moving to his new home in Massachusetts.

Just days prior to this fresh start, the “sweet, friendly, and fun dog” arrived at the North Carolina shelter as a stray, eagerly awaiting his second chance at a forever home, the humane society told the media.

Then, one day in February, a shelter volunteer treated Grover to an exhilarating hike as part of the Mountain Mutts program. This program provides adoptable dogs with opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.

While the dog was out on the hike, the family from Massachusetts was exploring Asheville’s famous landmark, the 8,000-acre Biltmore Estate. As it happens, the tourists instantly connected with Grover and expressed their eagerness to take him home.

This sweet “love-at-first-sight” story gained a lot of appreciation on Facebook. Consequently, it has close to 350 reactions on the social media platform.
