Christina Ricci posts heartbreaking message about her dog’s death

Sharing her heartfelt sorrow, Christina Ricci on Sunday, Feb. 18, posted on Instagram about the unfortunate passing of her dog, Karen Carpenter, as People reported. She wrote in her story, “My beautiful little best friend Karen Carpenter died on Friday. She was a lady and the best little soul I’ve ever known. My best friend for 15 years. So many of you knew her and loved her.”

Ricci further added that she hopes Karen is currently in the “humans-only” section in heaven since the pet used to “hate other dogs” and was incredibly fond of humans.

In addition, the Wednesday actress shared an old picture of Karen with her son Freddie, who is now 9 years old, stating, “She was Fred’s first best friend.” She also remarked that the dog had been with her since she was 29 years old and that Karen would always be her “first baby.”

While talking about her furry companion’s aging experience, Ricci said, “As she got older, I really wanted to make sure that not only did she live as long as possible, but that she lives comfortably … and without the ailments that older dogs suffer from.”

Christina Ricci is also a pet parent to dogs – Logan and Patrick. She had previously opened up about her passion for animals. Recalling her upbringing, Ricci expressed her equal affection for both cats and dogs, as she grew up with a cat and three dogs. In her words, “I’m an equal-opportunity animal lover. I really love cats as much as I love dogs.”
