As the world now knows, actor Matthew Perry passed away on Saturday. It appears he drowned in a hot tub, though further investigation into his death is underway. According to the Daily Mail, a source close to the “Friends” cast indicates Perry’s “Friends” co-star, Lisa Kudrow, may adopt his dog.

Perry adopted a doodle mix puppy named Alfred in 2021. He introduced the pup to the world via Instagram.
“This is me and @alfreddoodleperry,” he wrote alongside a pic of himself with the tan-colored pup. “Who’s cuter? Don’t answer that.”
Within weeks, the doodle mix had his own Instagram account.
“We all know who rules the Perry household even without the crown,” the Insta announcement read. “You can follow my boy @alfreddoodleperry, where we’ll be sharing photos and videos, telling you about our favorite pet brands, and presenting some tips to keep our dogs safe!”
Sadly, the account is now private.
The mysterious end to Perry’s life
Someone called EMTs to Perry’s house on Saturday afternoon due to a “water emergency.” First responders found the TV star drowned in his hot tub. He was apparently dead at the scene, as he was not transported to a hospital. Instead, a coroner’s van arrived to remove his body. An official cause of death is pending. Perry had long struggled with substance use, though it is still unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved in his death.
Perry’s parents, who are divorced, each arrived at the home later. Both looked visibly distraught. Perry’s family released the following statement: “Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
The source that confided to the Daily Mail about Perry’s dog also said that Kudrow allegedly believes Perry died due to side effects of medications.
“Although no one wants to believe it was medication – prescribed or not – of course that is a thought in their minds,” the source said. “They are thinking he must have taken something that did not mix with the warm water.”
While there are still many questions surrounding the actor’s death, one thing is clear: Alfred will be well loved.
