Dog suffers traumatic brain injury after man kicks him

According to ABC 7 News, Bart is the name of the canine victim in this random act of violence. Video of the incident shows the dog walking on the sidewalk in Venice Beach in Los Angeles, California. Suddenly, a man passing by kicked him. Bart flew through the air and onto the street.

Nearby observers intervened, administering CPR to Bart. Good Samaritans also pursued the suspect, who hit one of them over the head with a glass bottle. The man, who some suspect was on drugs, was arrested.

Bart underwent veterinary care and received a diagnosis of a traumatic brain injury. The veterinarian is unsure if Bart will ever walk again.

Dog mom devastated after random act of violence

Bart’s dog mom, Laura Rosenfeld, is devastated. She adopted the dog at 2 months old.

“No one would ever expect that this person would have just done that,” Rosenfeld said. “He did a sidekick to my dog as if it was a soccer ball, and my dog just flew onto the metal plate in the street adjacent to our sidewalk. At the edge of the claw of the tractor, and he was rigid.”

A GoFundMe is raising money to pay for Bart’s medical bills. The fundraiser has well-exceeded its goal of $10,000 for Bart’s care.

According to ABC 7 News, Rosenfeld “is just glad her beloved pet is alive and beginning to make a slow recovery.”

The assailant is 39-year-old Michael Langman. He is in custody and faces charges for the attack. Rosenfeld has strong feelings about the man who severely injured her fur baby.

“He’s not safe for the community. If we have people like that regularly wandering around our community, then we as a community are not safe,” she said.

What to do if you witness animal abuse in public

If you witness dog abuse in public, like this situation where a man kicks a dog, it is crucial to take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of the dog.

First and foremost, call 911 or your local emergency number to report the incident and provide them with the exact location and details. If it is safe to do so, use your phone to document evidence, capturing any relevant information such as the perpetrators, their actions, and the dog’s condition.

However, be cautious when approaching animal abusers, as they may be unpredictable or potentially dangerous. Focus on gathering information from a safe distance. Your documentation will serve as valuable evidence for authorities. Remember, the safety of yourself and others is paramount, so prioritize personal safety when intervening or reporting incidents of dog abuse.
