The film adaptation of Suzanne Collins best-selling novel, The Hunger Games, was a box-office smash; the sequel, Catching Fire, opens November 22, and there’s no reason to doubt it will be a success, too. The final movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, will be released in two parts: Part 1 on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 on November 20, 2015.

Just as Twilight made Bella one of the top cat names, several characters in theTHG trilogy also bear monikers that are outlandish, yet catchy enough for a dog or feline.

About The Hunger Games: It’s post-apocalyptic America, and a society called Panem exists in its place. Starvation and poverty are plentiful, and people are ruled by an iron-fisted government.

Each year, the ruling party holds The Hunger Games, an event where one boy and one girl (age 12 to 18) from the 12 districts engage in a televised free-for-all deathmatch, where the last person alive wins. The combat arena where the Games take place is filled with booby traps and frequently stocked with weapons and provisions to keep things “interesting” for viewers.

If this premise sounds of interest to you, it’s been done before in a brutal film called Battle Royale, which is completely unrelated to the characters in The Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games is a trilogy of booksThe Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay.
