Pet Product Review – Bissell QuickSteamer PowerBrush 2080
As you all know by reading my blog, matters of house cleanliness are very important to me. You have to be when you have multiple pets. With that I am always on the look out for the very best products and appliances that have staying value, are practical, easy to use and last.
I saw the Bissell QuickSteamer PowerBrush 2080 at Target and immediately was impressed with the mulit-tasking capabilities. First of all its light weight and its upright so unlike other vacuum/steamers its very portable. I live in an apartment so I didn’t mind that the steam tank was only 2 gallons. It seemed to be the perfect carpet cleaner for the area rugs that I have in every room of my home. The price was right too at only $99.
When considering a puppy for the home, know that accidents, spills, mistakes and more are normal and to be expected. Know in advance that you’ll be cleaning more often than you did before.
Upon getting the QuickSteamer PowerBrush home, I noticed that the assembly was quite easy but that the construction was all light weight plastic and did not seem super durable. I gave the carpet cleaner a dry run. It was immediatly aware to me that the carpet cleaner is not a vacuum. There is no vacuum suction and it does not vacuum dirt of any kind off the floor. Do not make this mistake. I bring this up because I was hoping for the wonder machine that would vacuum and steam. The box, even upon very careful inspection does lead you to believe this product does both.
I decided to try the Bissell QuickSteamer on a small area rug to start off with. It was okay. I have to be honest I was not impressed, and the rug was not much noticibly cleaner than when I started. The second time I use it, I remembered that I accidentally put warm, not hot, warm water in the tank. Let me tell you that the tank immediately expanded to the point where it would no longer fit in the proper port station on the upright. It was as if the plastic inflated and then would not return to its normal state. Thus the Bissell QuickSteamer PowerBrush was rendered completely useless.
I checked on the box and in the description and at no point does it say use only cold water. This leads me to believe there are many people who have done the same thing I’ve done and returned the appliance back to where I bought it. Do keep your receipt.
