On August 21st, 2021, TMZ reported that Britney Spears’ housekeeper took the pop icon’s dogs on an emergency trip to the vet because she was worried about their health and well-being.

Sources told the publication that Spears’ dogs are on special diets due to digestive issues, and the housekeeper “became alarmed when she saw the dogs regularly being fed table scraps” that caused one of the dogs to become sick.

The housekeeper claimed the pets were suffering from dehydration and took them to the vet. After the vet examined the dogs, Spears’ dog sitter took the pooches in.

What Did Britney Do?

According to Capt. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Spears is currently under investigation for battery. “Ultimately that investigation will be forwarded to the attorney’s office for review. It’s a minor misdemeanor battery [investigation],” he told People.

Two weeks after the dogs were taken, they were returned to Spears. A source told People that the “Lucky” singer is “thrilled” at their reunion and has “gotten clear instructions about how to care” for her dogs. The source added, the “housekeeper no longer works for her.”

Another source told the same publication that Spears didn’t try to hit the former employee. Rather, she tried to knock a phone out of the housekeeper’s hands.

What Should You Do If You See A Neglected Dog?

We don’t yet know who’s telling the truth in the story of Spears’ dogs. However, it serves as a reminder that we should take the proper steps if we suspect a dog is suffering from neglect or mistreatment.

If you notice a dog who might be suffering from neglect, let common sense be your guide. Once you recognize the signs, it becomes critical that you act quickly to save the animal.

Most communities have an animal welfare agency that you can call. You can also contact your local police department to report suspected animal neglect.

The ASPCA suggests that you have some information available when you speak to these authorities. Make notes in as much detail as possible about the date, time, and location of the suspected abuse.

Don’t enter the property without permission, but photos or video you take with your cell phone can help authorities. Include both the pet and the surrounding area if possible. If anyone else is aware and concerned about the situation, include their contact information.

You can remain anonymous reporting an abuse incident. However, the likelihood of successful prosecution in these cases greatly increases with a witness who’s willing to testify.

You should treat animal neglect as a serious crime because of the extreme suffering involved. For more information on this topic, please visit the full article here.
