Rescuers saved 25 Beagle mixes from “horrible living conditions” in a home in Ashland, Ohio on Monday.

Unfortunately, rescuers found three already deceased at the time of the rescue. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release detailing the incident.

Good Samaritan Calls in Tip

A Good Samaritan called in a suspicion of animal cruelty to the Ashland County Humane Society. The Humane Society then reported to the sheriff’s office that they “received a call that a large number of dogs were being held in a house” and “were not being cared for properly.”

After that, a deputy responded to the call and “could see the dogs and the horrible living conditions.” Immediately, they issued a search warrant. Deputies, volunteers, and local veterinarian Dr. Kristine Lafever all aided in the rescue of the 25 Beagle mixes.

“The smell of urine and feces was horrible throughout the house,” reads the press release, “The temperature was above 90 degrees in most of the house.” The owner of the home will face criminal charges.

According to a post on the Ashland County Humane Society Facebook, the dogs will be available for adoption “once healthy and spayed and neutered.”

See Something, Say Something

This is not the only Beagle rescue we’ve seen this year. Last month, the Humane Society of the United States rescued 4,000 Beagles from a testing facility.

If you suspect the mistreatment of animals, don’t hesitate to contact appropriate authorities. Animals rely on us to speak up for them. Additionally, animal hoarding is a serious problem that threatens the wellbeing of both the hoarder and the animals. By saying something, this Good Samaritan helped both the hoarder and the innocent dogs.

If you are interested in adopting one of the 25 Beagles who were rescued, contact the Ashland County Humane Society.
