When concerned citizens spotted a dog locked inside of a hot car on the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, they called NYPD out to break one of the vehicle’s windows and rescue the pup.
Temperatures rose to the mid-’80s that day, but as the NYPD explained via Twitter: “It only takes 10 mins for the inside of a car to reach a deadly 102°!”
Another tweet from the 19th Precinct sketched out the situation: “Hot car, hot dog rescue—thanks to caring NYers who saw this pup locked in a car for over 2 hours & called 911!”
The luxurious white-haired dog in question was subsequently cleared by a vet as being in okay health.
How Did The Rescue Go Down?
After successfully rescuing the pup, the NYPD shared details of the rescue scenario on social media:
“Our cops responded discovering the car off, windows shut & distressed dog. They broke the window, got pup out & off to a vet for care.”
Now that the pooch has been rescued, the NYPD confirmed that a “criminal investigation continues.”
Unfortunately, this happens all too often as the weather heats up. Earlier this month, a good Samaritan in California broke a car window to save a dog as the outside temperature rose to 102 degrees.
