In schools, the traditional nativity play is often commonplace, but what about at doggy daycare?
One daycare in the U.K. recreated the classic nativity scene with twelve pups, who were all on their very best behavior, reported Newsweek.
Daycare 4 Dogs, in Manchester, dressed the dogs up and put them in front of a kennel-like stable.
Christmas Fun at Doggy Daycare
The scene was put together in the sandpit at the daycare, and the dogs partaking included a Cocker Spaniel, a Beagle, and a Schnauzer. There was even a pup peeping out of the manger, as the pooches playing the roles of Mary and Joseph looked on.
Emma Billington, owner of Daycare 4 Dogs, said that she hoped the pictures would spread some festive cheer. “We challenge the dogs to do different things,” she told SWNS. “We do this every year, but this one is by far the best.”
Indeed, this year the dogs also dressed as Santa and his reindeer in another picture, with the pups all looking very proud to play their part.
“We practice year-round, it’s not a fluke. They’re used to it, and it’s part of their daily routine,” Emma explained.
She went on to add that the photos always go down well with the dogs’ parents, with plenty of laughter to be had.
“There’s nothing more joyous than spending that day with the dogs and seeing them do their different things,” Emma said. “It’s just about seeing them being happy. Our motto is ‘make dogs’ lives better’, and that’s what we strive for every day.
“They’re so clever and capable, they teach us every day.”
A Popular Tradition
Emma isn’t the only person to put together a dog nativity scene. Back in 2017, dog walking and grooming business owner Jo Kingston went viral on Twitter when she shared a picture of her canine clients taking part in a nativity picture, while she wasn’t the first to do it either.
“I’d seen it on the internet before, I’m not the first to do it,” she explained.
