An Israeli man was arrested by police for reckless driving because of a video showing the man’s dog ‘driving’ a car.

A Dog Driving a Car?

The man, a 35-year-old resident of the Arab village of Ein Naqquba near Jerusalem, posted the video on social media. The video shows him driving a car with the pup on his lap, holding his paws on the steering wheel. Meanwhile, a passenger in the front seat films as the vehicle slowly moves through the narrow streets of a dense urban neighborhood.

Eventually, the video went viral and caught the local authority’s attention. Jerusalem District Police identified the man, located him, and brought him in for questioning, reports The Times of Israel.

According to authorities, the man was interrogated on suspicion of reckless driving. Following his arrest, police learned that the man’s vehicle did not pass a required road test. That charge will be added to his offenses, they say.

According to a statement released by the police, “those who carry out such acts endanger people’s lives. We will continue to act to enforce serious traffic offenses and prosecute suspects who endanger road users with their actions.”

Driving With Dogs

Driving with your dog is a great way to bond and spend time together. However, we don’t recommend dogs driving cars. Safety should always be a priority when taking your pup on the road. If you’re planning a road trip with your furry pup, here are some tips for keeping your dog safe. Remember to bring along water and treats, and cleaning supplies in case there are any accidents during the journey. It’s best to get your pup used to car rides from a young age too, if possible.
