Reported Dog Attack Leaves Baby Dead, Parents Injured in New Jersey

Authorities in New Jersey have launched an investigation after a 3-month-old baby was purportedly mauled to death by the family dog. The infant’s parents also sustained injuries following the dog attack that occurred over the weekend. Reports say the family dog, identified as a Pit Bull, was later euthanized.

Baby dead and parents injured in an apparent attack by family dog

ABC News reported that on Saturday, Mar. 9, just before 6:30 a.m., Woodbridge police responded to reports of an unresponsive infant attacked by the family dog. According to the news outlet, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers found the baby’s mother with “serious injuries from the dog,” authorities stated.

As per USA Today, the Pit Bull attack left the 21-year-old mother with cuts to her arms, face, and legs. On the other hand, the baby’s father, aged 27, was rushed to hospital with unspecified injuries.

Authorities are now trying to unravel what transpired before the fatal attack. It remains unclear whether the dog had a history of aggressive behavior, and how long the canine had been with the family.

This tragic attack comes a few weeks after a Pit Bull breeder was mauled to death by his own dogs in his home. Unfortunately, cases of dogs turning on their owners and families have soared.

There are various factors that may lead to a dog exhibiting aggressive behaviors and attacking their own humans. These factors include the lack of socialization and training. Any breed, without proper training and socialization, can develop aggression toward people, including their own families.

It’s important not to overlook any signs of hostility from your dog and seek professional help to address any aggressive behaviors.

Additionally, the importance of getting your dog from a reputable breeder can’t be stressed enough. More often than not, dogs bred by irresponsible breeders have poor upbringing experiences, which can lead to them becoming aggressive.
