Arizona Shelter Dog Sets off Alarm in Attempted Escape

Usually, the sound of an alarm going is nowhere close to hilarious. But when a similar scenario happened at the Lost Our Home Pet Rescue in Tempe, Arizona, the shelter’s founder couldn’t help but smile in disbelief upon realizing who the real culprit behind the disturbance was: one of their rescue dogs named King.

Fox10 Phoenix News reports King broke out of his kennel and, without wasting time, headed to his canine friends’ cages to try to free them. Despite his unsuccessful attempt, a mischievous King managed to open another closed door leading to a room where food and drinks were.

“The alarm went off. It was like, you know, 12 o’clock, 1 o’clock in the morning, and I immediately looked to see what was going on and couldn’t find anything happening,”Jodi Polanski, the shelter’s founder, said. “Then I saw the mess, and I was like, oh my God.”

After failing to get his friends to join him in the fun, King raided a shelf with foodstuff, spilling goodies all over the floor. Surveillance footage captured the hilarious incident.

Police officer busts shelter dog who escaped from kennel

A Tempe police officer responded immediately to the alarm, only to find King at the door. “The police actually came because he set the alarm off, and it kept going off over and over again,” an astonished Polanski said. The officer escorted King back to his bed and, to Polanski’s surprise, cleaned up the mess left behind.

“I was looking at the footage the next morning. 2 in the morning. I’m like, how is this possible?” Polanski stated. “I had no idea the officer was going to clean up, and I saw it, and I was just like, wow, amazing man that he did that.”

Polanski also told the news outlet her shelter is in need of pet food. Additionally, she shared they are in search of fosters for their large dogs
